1. 2014 Orin Swift Machete Napa Valley- blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah & Grenache grapes
The 2014 Proprietary Red Blend Machete finished at 15.7% natural alcohol aged 10 months in 40% new French oak. This wine is telltale opaque bluish/purple with a super nose of barbecue meat & herbs,blackberries, blueberries, white flowers & sweet, dark raspberries in the background. 2. 2013 The Crusher Petite Sirah - Clarksburg, Yolo County, California
This wine displays dark aromas of wild blueberry, black licorice and purple plum. 80% of the wine was aged on French oak promoting notes of caramelized vanilla bean. The remainder of the oak is Hungarian, which enhances characteristic notes of gaminess such as mushroom & tobacco leaf. This deeply expressive wine fills the palate with flavors of blackberry jam & dried cherry, mingling effortlessly with cinnamon bark & molasses. The mouth-coating tannins add structure & complexity to this full-bodied wine, while the 6% Pinot Noir adds a layer of plush, round & supple flavors. 3. 2007 Turley Rattlesnake Ridge Petite Sirah - Howell Mountain, Napa
Closed, tannic & backward, but enormously concentrated, is inky/purple-tinged. With coaxing, it offers up scents of pepper, incense, blackberries, & crushed rocks, but the wine is extremely tannic & impenetrable. Rated 89-91 WA

Deep purple color with a bit of a magenta edge. The aroma & bouquet play equal roles in this wine; the bouquet is that of toasted oak with notes of vanilla & dark chocolate & just a whiff of smoke. The aromas of boysenberry, blackberry & marionberry jam are deep & dense without turning earthen. The flavors are juicy & succulent with loads of black currant & creamy sweet oak.
