2006 Domaine de L’Arlot Nuits St. George Blanc “La Gerbotte” (Burgundy, France) – blend of 95% Chardonnay & 5% Pinot Gris

A racy wine with good acidity, the rare Blanc Nuits St. Georges is somewhat lighter than many other white Burgundies. It has tropical fruit and exotic aromas, structured with a richness that is due in part to the small and unique percentage of old Pinot Gris vines interspersed in the Clos de l’Arlot vineyard.  “With a satisfying meld of richness and juiciness, and persistent musk and exotic floral inner-mouth aromas, this refined wine finishes with lovely but subtle suggestions of spice and citrus oils.” Rated 89 – The Wine Advocate

2007 Qunita do Noval Cedro do Noval (Duoro Valley, Portgual) – blend of 35% Syrah, 30% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, 10% Tinto Cao

A dry red table wine from one of the world’s most renowned producers of Port wine, the Cedro (named for a 100 year old Cedar tree on the winery property) is a terrific introduction to the lesser known world of Portuguese dry red wines.”Very pure tasting, with elegant red cherry, plum and smoked meat flavors. Raspberry, olive and savory herb notes fill the chiseled finish. Shows real pedigree with fine tannins and plenty of power.  92 Points -Wine Spectator

2006 Tourelles de Longueville Pauillac (Bordeaux, France) – blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc

The “second label” of Pauillac (and flagship AXA wine) Pichon Baron Longueville, Les Tourelles offers Bordeaux enthusiasts a glimpse of the majesty of Pichon Baron at approximately half the price.”Black currant and dark chocolate aromas follow through to a full body, with chewy tannins, very good fruit and an aftertaste of tobacco and berry. Structured and rich. The excellent second wine from Pichon-Baron.  90 Points – Wine Spectator

2005 Mas Belles Eaux Sainte Helene Coteaux du Languedoc (Languedoc, France) - blend of 80% Syrah, 10% Grenache, 10% Carignan

Mas Belles Eaux is AXA’s newest wine property and the successful 2005 vintage the first following  an extensive renovation and overhaul. Though drinking well now, the Sainte-Helene cuvee is the most age-worthy wine in the Mas Belles Eaux portfolio.  “Rich, ripe aromas and flavors of kircsh, dark plum, chocolate and spice are backed up by a chiseled structure and firm tannins. The lush finish echoes the spice, with touches of pepper and beef.”  92 Points -Wine Spectator
