2005 Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino – Sangiovese grape
Plum and ripe berry notes, with hints of strawberry jam, follow through to a full body, with a solid core of ripe fruit, chewy yet polished tannins and a long finish. This is deep and rich. Rated 92 Wine Spectator
Medium ruby-red. Spicy red cherry and floral aromas are bright and enticing. Then sweet and juicy in the mouth, with flavors of ripe red cherry, raspberry jam and cinnamon. Finishes long and clean, with a hint of coffee. A lovely wine with very good balance and above-average concentration for the vintage; I especially like its upfront fruity charm. Rated 90 International Wine Cellar
2003 Tenuta La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino – Sangiovese grape
Has gorgeous aromas of crushed berry and cherry. Full-bodied, with lots of fruit and a long, caressing finish. Very fresh and beautiful. Rated 91 Wine Spectator
2006 Produttori Barbaresco Torre – Nebbiolo grape
The 2006 Barbaresco is a gorgeous, generous Barbaresco loaded with ripe dark fruit. This is an especially harmonious, refined Barbaresco from the Produttori that is also somewhat unusual for its dark, brooding personality. Licorice, leather and tar linger on the powerful finish. Today the wine is remarkable for its depth and concentration, while the aromatic complexity will develop in bottle. If the regular Barbaresco holds this much power, I can only wonder what the Riservas might have in store. Simply put, this is a marvelous effort. This is Lot 9.125 Anticipated maturity: 2011-2031.” Rated 92 The Wine Advocate
2006 Colle Dei Venti Barbaresco Tufo Blu – Nebbiolo grape
“Clean and precise aromas of strawberry and blackberry follow through to a full body. Builds on the palate, with cool berry fruit character and chewy tannins.” Rated 90 Wine Spectator
2004 Colle Dei Venti Barolo – Nebbiolo grape
“This offers very, very ripe fruit on the nose, with meat, light raisin and dried flowers. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a persistent finish. Best after 2010.” Rated 89 Wine Spectator
2004 Fiero Barolo Noce Afelio – Nebbiolo grape
Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones. snooth.com
