2008 Remo Farina Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore– Blend of Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella grapes
This great wine obtained from the best Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes faithfully reflects the ancient traditions. After the first fermentation in autumn, a second fermenting (ripasso) in the spring is made on the Amarone’s grape skins. This process extracts the rich color and body, enhances the aroma, taste and longevity, and consequently its quality. A dark ruby-red color, with the fragrance of pepper, fruit marmalade (cherries, prunes) and spices, licorice and ginger. Excellent with roasted meats and cheeses. wine.com
2007 Corte Rugolin Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore – Blend of Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella grapes
Corte Rugolin’s Ripasso style of Valpolicella is produced by refermenting a small amount of Valpolicella Classico on the lee with the sweet wine of their Recioto and Amarone. The resulting red is of superior quality and is remarkably long-lived; it has more body and weight than most Valpolicellas as well as a particularly intense bouquet. Its powerful, assertive character makes it one of the Veneto’s great wines, not to mention a considerable value. Ideal with all meat-based dishes, roast game and mature cheeses (try it with pasta tossed in a sauce flavored with wild boar!). K&L Wines

2005 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico – Blend of Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella grapes
The 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a big, fat, super-ripe wine boasting tons of richness in its dark fruit, spices and chocolate. Despite its concentration, this medium-bodied Amarone remains the product of an average harvest and the wine’s modest structure can’t quite measure up to the 100% new French oak. As always, Allegrini makes one of the more accessible Amarones readers are likely to encounter. Rated 89 The Wine Advocate
