Bodega del Desierto Chardonnay 25/5 La Pampa
“A juicy Chardonnay, with green and yellow apple notes backed by judicious toast and a creamy finish.” Rated 88 The Wine Spectator This is a Paul Hobbs consult…

2008 Tomero Torrontes Mendoza
“Tomero Wines’ 2008 Torrontes is light straw-colored with a fragrant nose of spring flowers, honey, and tropical aromas. Dry, ripe, and concentrated on the palate, it has vibrant acidity and a refreshing finish. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.” Rated 88 The Wine Advocate

2007 Lamadrid Bonarda Reserva Mendoza
“Bright ruby-red. Black fruits and dark chocolate on the slightly inky nose, with a whiff of violet providing lift. At once silky and strong in acidity, with very good intensity and a light touch to the extremely primary flavors of dark berries, licorice and menthol. A very polished bonarda with atypical perfume for the variety. Relies as much on its acids as on its tannins for structure. I was reminded of a barbera or dolcetto made in tank.” 88 Points – Stephen Tanzer – International Wine Cellar

2008 Tikal Patriota 60% Bonarda/Malbec 40%
“The 2008 Patriota is composed of 60% Bonarda and 40% Malbec aged in French (40% new) and American (seasoned) oak. Purple/black in color, it has a splendid bouquet of cigar box, Asian spices, lavender, black cherry, and plum. Full-bodied, dense, rich, and powerful, this loaded effort has gobs of flavor, succulence, and great length. Only hedonists need apply. Drink it over the next six years while it retains its fleshy character.” Rated 92 The Wine Advocate

2009 Bodegas y Vinedos Huarpe Malbec Lancatay Mendoza
“Slightly roasted aromas, spicy, some complexity; good depth, succulent, long, drink now-6 years.” Rated 90 The Wine Advocate We chose the name Huarpe in honor of the peaceful native inhabitants of Mendoza. It is a recent undertaking but has a long history, a history that begins many years before we were born and which is the continuation of the work of several generations in one of the world’s most privileged wine growing regions. This is the 100-year tradition of one of the most important wine families in Mendoza, the Toso family. Proud of our inheritance, and passionate about the unique characteristics of our terroir, we decided to share this 100-year old passion with the rest of the world. Today, Huarpe is completely family run: worldwide-trained oenologist José Hernández Toso makes the wine, while his brother Maximiliano Hernández Toso manages the commercial aspects of the winery.

2008 Finca Decero Malbec Remolinos Vineyard Mendoza
Purple/black; already complex nose, densely packed, plush, with 2-3 years aging potential.
Rated 92 The Wine Advocate Decero, meaning ‘from scratch’, was born of a bare patch of land and a family’s love affair with wine. Winemaking in Thomas Schmidheiny’s family went back to his grandparents in Switzerland and, just as Napa had inspired his mother, Adda, in the 1970s, so too did Agrelo capture the heart and mind of Thomas, when travelling over the Andes into Argentina, 20 years later. Starting ‘decero’ was exactly how Thomas Schmidheiny dreamt of beginning a world-class vineyard, free from constraint of tradition and full of passion. Here in Agrelo, the source of some of Argentina’s finest red wines, Thomas instinctively knew that he had found the place to continue the family legacy and to handcraft wines whose allure would lie in being true to their origin.
