2007 Tedeschi Valpolicella Ripasso Capitel San Rocco – Blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes
The 2007 Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Capitel San Rocco is a beautiful, plump wine loaded with character. Smoke, black cherries, grilled herbs and spices come together beautifully in this juicy Valpolicella. The wine’s inner perfume carries through nicely on the finish. Rated 90 The Wine Advocate

2009 Masi Passo Doble Tupungato Mendoza – 70% Malbec, 30% semi-dried Corvina
“A deep-coloured red with violet notes. A decisive bouquet of ripe, jammy fruits, especially prune, with a further suggestion of licorice. Great structure immediately on the palate with a well maintained acidity, nicely balanced by decisive and lively tannins. The generous nose makes for a pleasantly dry finish. The technique used here is Masi’s speciality: double fermentation. After soft pressing of the Malbec grapes, on-skin fermentation lasted 16 days in stainless steel tanks at a constant 23-27°C. The second fermentation was induced with selected yeasts and used 30% of whole Corvina grapes given a brief appassimento treatment before pressing.” A twist of Amarone della Valpolicella using Malbec along with the traditional Corvina.

2003 Terre di Bo Amarone della Valpolicella – Blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes
Tight on the nose, offering just a hint of the clean black fruit and coffee-stained oak character that forms a solid bead on the palate. Full-bodied, with lots of tightly packed tannins that carry the crushed fruit flavors through the long, long finish. snooth.com

2004 Trionfo Amarone della Valpolicella Classico -Blend of 75% Corvina Veronese, 20% Rondinella, 5% Molinara
Deep garnet-red with an intense perfume of black-cherry jam, liquorice and dark chocolate. The palate is very full-bodied and velvety textured with ripe black cherry fruit and solid fruit tannins leading to a long finish with notes of cinnamon and walnut. wine-cask.com

2007 Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella Classico – Blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes
Nose of cherries, blackberries, cassis, orange, raisin, and oak. Low tannins and medium acids. Well balanced with medium-high alcohol (15%). Flavors of cherry, blackberry, cassis with medium sugars. Paired well with chile con carne and stood up well to the spiciness. Would work with hearty stews, red meats, and cheeses. mrbaconwine

2006 Luigi Righetti Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Capitel de’ Roari (Italy) – Blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes
Sweet berry and jam on the nose. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and very pretty ripe fruit. Offers fine tannins and a long finish. So delicious now. Why wait? Readily available and well-priced. Drink now through 2013. Rated 90 Wine Spectator
