D’Parma Restaurante, Winthrop, MA – Mmm..mmm…good!

2006 Masut Tocai Friulano Vigna Candida (Italy) – Tocai Fruilano grape
If you haven’t had Tocai from the Fruili region of Italy, you will now discover your new favorite white wine. This wine comes from the Dolomites, in northeastern Italy, where the climate produces wines with great acidity and flavour.

2007 Poggio al Tesoro Vermentino Sole Sole Tuscany (Italy) – Vermentino grape
“The 2007 Vermentino Solosole is a silky, generous white loaded with expressive, perfumed fruit supported by an underlying vein of acidity that provides balance and length. For its Vermentino the estate chose a clone originally from Corsica that allows for a late harvest without sacrificing acidity. This unoaked Vermentino offers uncommon richness and depth.” Rated 88 by The Wine Advocate

2007 Mitolo Shiraz Jester McLaren Vale (Australia) – Shiraz/Syrah grape
“The 2007 Jester Shiraz is dark ruby/purple-colored with an alluring perfume of mineral, earth notes, blueberry, black cherry, and blackberry. Smooth-textured, ripe, and intensely flavored, the wine conceals enough structure to evolve for 4-6 years. The finish is lengthy and pure. I was also shown the 2002 Jester Shiraz and, I know this will be hard to believe, at age six it tastes like a small-scaled version of Guigal’s La Landonne.” Rated 91 by The Wine Advocate

2007 Sextant Zinfandel Wheelhouse Paso Robles (California) – Zinfandel grape
“Ripe and jammy, showing huckleberry and licorice aromas, with zesty black cherry and toasty pepper flavors that take on depth and briary tannins on the finish.” Rated 90 by Wine Spectator Magazine

2006 Hilberg Pasquero Barbera D’Alba (Italy) – Barbera grape
“The 2006 Barbera d’Alba is an accessible, vinous wine bursting with blueberries, blackberries, tar and licorice. This plump, juicy Barbera is best enjoyed over the next few years.” Rated 88 by The Wine Advocate. This wine is intense, so much so that it will surely need to be decanted.

2006 Langmeil Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Blacksmith Barossa Valley (Australia) – Cabernet Sauvignon grape
“The purple-colored 2006 Blacksmith Cabernet spent 18 months in French oak hogsheads, 20% new. The nose reveals cedar, pencil lead, black currant, and blackberry leading to a forward, medium to full-bodied Cabernet with excellent depth, spicy flavors, and a lengthy finish.” Rated 90 by The Wine Advocate
