Vin de Vin FRENCH Bordeaux Wine Tasting New York City May 13, 2010

May 19th, 2010 by admin

I know the vast majority of wines produced in Bordeaux are red, something like 85%+ but the wine that stole the show was the dry Bordeaux Blanc from Chateau Suduiraut. Thanks to Connor for breaking into his stash…Everyone wanted more of that wine!

2007 Chateau S de Suduiraut Bordeaux Blanc Sec (Bordeaux) – blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc “Pale yellow color with gree highlights, S of Suduiraut 2007 offers a noise of anise, then fruity (lemon) and slightly dired/roasted aroma. In the mouth the taste begins with an attack mixing freshness and consistency; it continues by finding a fruity nose with much length. This finish is rich, minerally and smoky. The freshness of the year supports and prolongs the richness.” Pierre Montegut, Chief Technical Officer, March 2009

2006 Joanin Becot Cotes de Castillon, (Bordeaux) – blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc
“One of the stars of the vintage for this appellation, this property, owned by Juliette Becot, produces a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, and looked after by Michel Rolland’s right-hand man in Bordeaux, Jean-Philippe Forte, this stunning 2006 exhibits sweet blackberry, black currant, smoky, toasty oak, espresso roast, and chocolate aromas and flavors. Full-bodied with precise minerality, and good focus, purity, texture, and depth, this superb sleeper of the vintage should be consumed over the next decade. Good value.” Rated 90 by The Wine Advocate

2006 Petit Village Pomerol, (Bordeaux) – blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc
“This is a seductive and evolved style of wine, with the color already bricking, but the complex nose of cedar, forest floor, red and black currants, and wood spice is very appealing. Medium-bodied with relatively deep fruit and silky tannins, this wine merits consumption over the next 10 years.” Rated 88 by The Wine Advocate

2006 Les Tourelles de Longueville Pauillac (Bordeaux) – blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc“Black currant and dark chocolate aromas follow through to a full body, with chewy tannins, very good fruit and an aftertaste of tobacco and berry. Structured and rich. The excellent second wine from Pichon-Baron.” Rated 90 by Wine Spectator
